Our inspector intervew

MR Sasaki from ASTRAL

MR Sasaki

Q.1How long have you been doing this inspection work?
It is about 5 years in the current company. Before this company I was working as an inspector at the auction site for 8 years.
Q.2How long do you take inspecting per one unit?
It usually takes about 7 to 8 minutes, and it may take about 10 minutes depening on the car.
Q.3What kind of things do you mainly are the major points do you checkcheck in the when doing inspection ?
The condition of the car in general; if it has rust, how deep it is, the optional equipment that are attached.

Furthermore, I’m always on the look out to know if the car is accident free or not, If no, what is the degree of damage and the repair that was done. It becomes a bit difficult if the car was involved in accident and the information is missing and to me this is a sensitive matter that I have to take my time to check otherwise it can be a big claim if not handled with care.
Q.4What is your point of strength?
The excellency at work is my strength. Not only do I check on the accident history of the car but also on other things like dents & scratches no matter how small they are. With this I’m sure nothing will be overlooked.
Q.5Are there any other strengths that other companies do not have in inspection?
Not all companies conduct a second inspection after the auction inspection. In other words, many companies do not inspect the vehicle other than the inspection done at the auction site. I think that the fact that we are doing detailed inspection before sending abroad is an added advantage.
Q.6What do you say to people who get to drive the cars you inspected?
First of all; I am happy that they recognize us and purchased from us and I can say they should not worry, they are in safe hands. However; they should always drive safe and take a good care of the car. Again, thank you so much to all our customers.
Q.7What is important for Mr. Sasaki at work?
It is important to tackle my work with pride. Also I am also learning through my daily work.
Q.8Are you studying cars?
I do not have a manual, so I am not studying by reading books. I grab the characteristics and patterns of each car through my daily work and put it in my head and notes. I also observe the car that I usually drive; I can sense if there is any problem with the car.

MR Inagaki from ASTRAL

MR Sasaki

Q.1How long have you been doing this inspection work?
I have worked for about 6 years in the current company. Previously I worked at the auction site for about 10 years.
Q.2How long do you take inspecting one unit?
It usually takes about 7 to 8 minutes, and in some cases it may take a little longer.
Q.3Is there and particular item do you focus on when examining the car?
I will carefully look at the condition of the rust and accident history.
Q.4Is there something Mr.Inagaki is not defeated by others?
I check all the cars we bought from the auction without failing. I am extra careful not to overlook anything.
Q.5What do you think of foreign people ride in a car inspected by Mr.Inagaki?
I do not have any special feeling, but since I know that Japanese cars are the best, I am keeping in mind the work that matches that quality.
Q.6What skills do the inspectors need for export car inspection ?
It is very important to know the structure of the car well. To do that, in daily work it is necessary to see the car well. Also, there are many types of Japanese cars, so it is important to grasp features of each type well. When I look at a car usually, I will ask myself why is it dented like this when I see a dent. It is occupational illness (laugh).

MR Nakago from ASTRAL

MR Sasaki

Q.1How long have you been doing this inspection work?
This is my 4th year in this workplace. Before that I was doing inspection work in another company for 2years.
Q.2How long do you take in inspecting one unit ?
On average 7 to 8 minutes.
Q.3I think that all items are important, but are there any inspection items that can not be overlooked?
I will mostly care about the engines and (is this supposed to be missions or transmissions). The backbone part is the most important item of the car.
Q.4Is there something Mr.Nakago is not defeated by others?
It is accuracy of inspection. I think that it is important for you to notice small details.
Q.5What is the focus of Mr. Nakago at work?
job accuracy and efficiency. There are many cars that have to be examined in a day. It is important to inspect as many cars as possible without mistakes in a limited time.
Q.6Is there anything you study every day?
My job is to learn as it is. Since each car has a different characteristic grasp its characteristics and inspect while learning about it. That repetition will be a great learning experience. Also, car magazines and books are not useful at all for work. Looking at the car is the best to learn. Information on new vehicle types is not always on books / magazines, but by seeing the actual car it increases my knowledge day to day.
